We now have the padstones and footbridge columns installed on the Up platform at Darley Dale and work continues at Rowsley South on riveting and painting bridge components returned to us by Steelway in Wolverhampton. The onsite work at Rowsley is being undertaken by an excellent group of volunteers who undertake the hard work involved in riveting. By the time this phase of the work has been completed nearly 2,500 nuts and bolts will have been removed and the same number of hot rivets used to replaced them. We still await the footbridge span to be returned to Rowsley after the work has been completed by Steelway.
We are extremely grateful to Peak Rail Limited, the Peak Railway Association, Haddon Stone and Pennine Paving, and of course the volunteers making this happen. The support of the National Lottery Heritage Fund has been fundamental in making this project possible.
