As many will be aware, the DWVRT is currently in the process of re-erecting the original footbridge at Darley Dale station. Although most of the cost has been generously covered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, and a grant from Darley Dale Town Council, the Trust still has to find the remainder.
There is a way to help for free!
The Trust is registered with the fund raiser Give As You Live. The site is partnered with online retailers such as ebay, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, John Lewis and many more. The amount of money donated varies from site to site, but is around 0.5% of the retail value. Prices to you are not increased when you purchase as it is the retailer that pays (Plus Give As You Live charge DWVRT 2.5% admin). All donations are anonymous, DWVRT receives a lump sum periodically.
Please note, Amazon used to donate (via Amazon Smile) in the same way, but they no longer give money to charities via their website.
To use this to raise cash for DWVRT either go online to the above website and register, or download the App from Google Play for Android: App Store for Apple, nominating The Derwent And Wye Railway Trust as your chosen charity. When wishing to make a purchase from a retailer you then firstly, either use the App, or go to the give as you live website, search for your chosen retailer, you will then be re-directed to it. All donations are then paid automatically on completion of purchase.
